It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her newest gem.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

However although she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
