Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, producing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Residents reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.
